Well, half a kg of wool came in the mail just now, courtesy of mom…
My weaving tablets aren’t ready yet!! Argh!
Ok, calm down, one thing at a time.
First, I shall try to spin some of it on the top whorl spindle (I suck with the bottom one, I think it’s unbalanced. That, and I suck). I might need to weigh it down a bit, because it doesn’t spin too long and I need both hands for drafting.
Second, ply it and wrap into skeins.
Third, collect old pots from friends and get the mordant.
Fourth, go on escapades looking for natural dyeing ingredients.
Fifth, dye!
Sixth, perhaps tablet weave (if it feels manageable, I was gonna try today with scrap bits). If not, ball it (on nostepinne?)
Yay!

Damn you, sudden interests! I’ve completely forgotten about 100 word stories, barely got into spinning, and here you are again, with drumming this time. Sigh. Fine. Next time I’m on the other side of town, I’ll retrieve my frame drum from mom’s place.

This is just a reminder for me not to lose this page, my bookmarks are a mess.

I have recently finished reading Butterflies are free to fly. I’m not particularly keen on the part that would require belief - the Infinite I and how it operates. Seems like yet another one of those systems for Human Adults. But I have no problems with the exercises and am willing to put in the work. So far I have started identifying the most problematic areas of my ego - my identity as a caregiver, and my attachment to being perceived as intelligent. Surprisingly and ironically, I also deal very badly with chaos and inconsistency, when I’m on the receiving end of it. The other exercises prove to be very enjoyable and have great results. Many a pleasant holograms were experienced in the past few days.
I’m sure the Mormons who caught me on my first ice cream walk through the park today weren’t ready for me. In the end they just blinked and gave me a pamphlet.
Also: bubble tea is delicious and not gross at all, but is ridiculously expensive. We’re getting tapioca pearls to do stuff at home, for cheapz.
Well, I’m glad I was in the freaking hail storm outside, wading through ankle deep water to even just cross the road, instead of in the house when the lightning hit it. Scary stuff. But smells awesome.

So, I’m sick again. Trying to entertain myself. Stuff I did recently:
- made Alex a notebook from recycled bits of paper. Forgot to take a photo.
- practiced the theme from Princess Mononoke on ocarina. Isn’t sounding too good so far.
- weaved a rag rug for kitten so she’d piss off from the big official one by the bed.
- lots of Huna. In my mind.
- doodles.
- written the 100 word story for this week’s challenge.
- …Pottermore -_-; I am in Griffindor. Sigh. Wy not Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff? Anyway, I shall take it in stride.
I am also investigating textile design and fiber art. I so want to do that stuff. Just a bit intimidated. I don’t know if I should explore and research more or just go for it, in case knowing stuff will limit my perception of what the whole shebang is about.
Alright, I couldn’t help myself. I’ve watched those Korra episodes… ALL THE EMOTIONS! Is this another thing I’ll have to be watching in solitude, just in case?

Oh wow. I finally got sick of lying on the couch watching tv shows (after what? 2 months?) and decided to warm up a bit before this night’s party. I was looking for a good interval training routine I saw some time ago, couldn’t find it. Instead, this caught my eye. I only managed the beginner amount of repetitions on exercise 8, 12 and 13. A bit disappointing, but not really surprising - half the other ones depended on arm strength, which I have minus amounts of. Still, I feel accomplished and will be trying this again. But treating it as a whole body work out, because honestly - compared to the arms - I didn’t feel much tummy action going on.
Wooo! Go me!

Maybe this will get me moving. I consider the runes a nice bonus.

Huh, I realized I haven’t posted in a long long time. Probably due to all the adventures I’m having with bacteria in my mouth. Yeah. Gross. Really didn’t feel like doing much of anything because of that. I suppose I could upload some sketches, but they’re either nose drawing practice or to do with my hair… Do you want to see my Amazing Hair Chronicles? You do? Man, you guys are weird.

If you’re into language learning, check out this thing boyfriend showed me yesterday! I don’t know if it’s only vocab, or if they introduce grammar later on but so far it’s so much fun. The lessons are really short, so you can do many a day without getting too bored or tired. And the system of transferring stuff into the long term memory is so cute and rewarding. (I’m actually having fun with French - something I never though I’d say after high school traumas).

After acquiring a karimba I have stumbled upon Shona music. Now I’m kicking myself in the butt for not picking the mbria instead. If anyone has a good source for traditional Shona melodies online, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line.
For now I’m fine with Taku Mafika’s tutorials on youtube, but I’d like more theory.
